AutoNews coverage completly misses the point of Electric cars as a way to avoid oil usage, needs an answer.
Vigil to save the EV1 from destruction by GM. These clean cars were partially paid for by the State of California, GM took them away from drivers and crushed most of them. About 70 remain, penned in at this site. GM should give drivers the choice of driving these cars, on the free market and as they wish. No other discontinued model was ever destroyed and crushed this way; GM let the Corvair owners continue in Corvair clubs, there are Packard drivers. GM must let the driver decide, let the free market find a price for these great cars. Don't destroy the EV1. Ask your news paper or television station to cover the vigil, and ask GM why it must destroy these existing clean cars! Just give people a chance to bid on them at an open auction!
